Following weeks of training, Overland Park snow crews are prepared to get behind the wheel to handle anything Mother Nature throws at us this winter.
Snow crews gathered on October 31 for their annual snow rally to kick off the season. In the spirit of Halloween, this year’s Snow Rally incorporated a costume contest.
Snow crews spend several weeks driving snow plows at training courses across the City to practice driving skills, including using the wing plow, which allows drivers to move more snow with every pass, backing up and navigating cul-de-sacs. Every driver is required to complete training annually to make sure they’re properly trained before the first snowfall.
You can join our team and be part of the solution that keeps Overland Park safe and accessible! Find more information on open positions and apply today on the City’s website.
With more than 2,000 lane miles of streets and bridges to maintain, including more than 2,000 cul-de-sacs and 59 bridge decks, our snow plow drivers directly impact the lives of OP residents. Find more information on winter storm operations at opkansas.org/snow.
