The 2024 Mental Health Awareness Month theme is “Where to Start: Mental Health in a Changing World.”
“It’s always a good time to start working on your mental health, so I encourage everyone to find a first step to take during Mental Health Awareness Month,” said Tim DeWeese, Johnson County Mental Health Center’s director. “That could look like learning more about our local crisis line and walk-in services or doing something to build your own coping and resiliency skills.”
While conversations surrounding mental health are becoming more common, many struggle with knowing where to begin when it comes to prioritizing their own mental wellness.

Check out the Mental Health Kansas City Conference May 23-24 at Johnson County Community College, 12345 College Blvd. Hosted by the Metropolitan Council of Community Behavioral Health Centers, this conference focuses on a wide variety of behavioral health and well-being topics. You can also prioritize your mental health by practicing mindfulness, meditation and relaxation, seeking support from loved ones, or regularly engaging in activities that bring you joy. By equipping yourself with these tools, you can better navigate challenges and protect your mental well-being.
