Join us in celebrating Arbor Day by taking home a free tree or shrub seedling! Contribute to OP’s unbe-leaf-able greenery at two events this month:

The City of Overland Park and the Legacy of Greenery Committee will hand out free tree and shrub seedlings to Overland Park residents on Saturday, April 6 at the following locations:
- Thompson Park, 8045 Santa Fe Drive
- Tomahawk Ridge Community Center, 11902 Lowell Avenue
- Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens, 8909 W. 179th Street
Seedlings will be available while supplies last, limit three per family.
Shrubs:
- Buttonbush
- Common lilac
- Elderberry
- Golden currant
- Common ninebark
- Fragrant sumac
Trees:
- Shortleaf pine
- Kentucky coffeetree
- Black Hills spruce
- Oriental arborvitae
- Persimmon
- Redbud

Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens, 8909 W. 179th Street
The Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens will distribute free tree and shrub seedlings on a first-come, first-served basis on Saturday, April 27, beginning at 9 a.m. Each household may receive up to two seedlings. Arboretum volunteers will also be available to provide planting tips and advice.

- Rocky Mountain Juniper, Juniperus scopulorum
- Peking Cotoneaster, Cotoneaster acuifolius
- Chokecherry, Prunus virginiana
- Button Bush, Cephalanthus occidentalis
- Sandhill Plum, Prunus angustifolia
- Red Mulberry, Morus rubra
- Lilac, Syringa vulgaris
- Elderberry, Sambucus nigra
- Common Ninebark Physocarpus opulifoius
- American Plum, Prunus americana
