Plog it like it’s hot; Plogtober is back in Overland Park

Get ready to hit the pavement and pick up trash! This October, Overland Park is taking part in the Kansas City Plogtober competition, and we need your help to represent Johnson County.

“Plogging” is a Swedish practice that combines jogging with picking up litter. It’s a fun way to stay active while helping to keep our community clean. The competition, hosted by the Mid-America Regional Council, runs from Oct. 1-31 and challenges counties and cities across the metro to see who can gather the most plogging participants.

To join the effort, Overland Park residents have two options:

  • Participate in Johnson County’s organized cleanup event on October 19 at Ernie Miller Nature Center.
  • Sign up as a “virtual plogger” and collect litter in your own neighborhood on any day in October.
