Overland Park Police officers will be out at your local Target stores during the month of August to collect school supplies for local students.
The department’s Community Policing unit will collect supplies for Blue Valley School District and Shawnee Mission School District students.
Officers will collect:
- Boxes of 24 Crayola crayons
- Boxes of 8 Crayola washable markers
- Black and fine point Sharpies
- Yellow highlighters
- Boxes of colored pencils
- Pre-sharpened #2 pencils
- Pink erasers
- 3-hole plastic folders with pockets in blue, red, green, yellow, orange
- 4-5 inch Fiskars pointed metal scissors
- Glue sticks
- Bottles of glue
- 70-page wide-ruled spiral notebooks
- 200 sheet wide-ruled notebook paper
- 12 inch rulers
- Gallon-size Ziploc bags
- Expo Odor Free Dry Erase Markers in black, blue and green
- Zippered pencil bags
- Earbuds
- Containers of Lysol disposable wipes
- Face masks
- Hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes
Keep an eye out for the Overland Park Police vehicle and officers at these locations:
- Target at 12200 Blue Valley Parkway from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on August 12
- Target at 8101 W. 151st Street from 2-6 p.m. on August 15
- Target at 12200 Blue Valley Parkway from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on August 20
- Target at 11501 W. 97th Street from 3-7 p.m. on August 20
- Target at 8101 W. 151st Street from 2-6 p.m. on August 21
- Target at 11501 W. 97th Street from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on August 22
Stop into Target and pick up a few items to donate while officers are there. You can also drop off donations from other stores during these collection times, or at the Sanders Justice Center or Myron E. Scafe Building from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Police officers will package the donations for individual use and provide the supplies to local schools.
