Fireworks Rain Show – July 5

Due to flooding in Indian Creek, extremely muddy conditions in the park and the threat of more weather in the forecast, the Overland Park Star Spangled Spectacular scheduled for Thursday, July 4, was canceled.

OPFD issues 2020 annual report

Overland Park Fire Department’s 2020 annual report is now available.

The report provides a snapshot of the department’s year in service, detailing its staffing, accreditation, service areas, training techniques, prevention efforts, department updates and more.

In 2020, the department responded to more than 20,000 calls for service – more than 55 calls per day, from six fire stations and two squad houses.

“We hope our report provides transparency and a look inside what I consider to be one of the finest fire departments in the nation, based on performance,” said Fire Department Chief Bryan Dehner.

The 2020 annual report also highlights additional steps the Fire Department took to ensure both its staff, and City of Overland Park staff, stayed safe and well during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Overland Park Fire Department services all of Overland Park and Merriam and will merge with Johnson County Fire District #2 in the future.
