The Overland Park Star Spangled Spectacular will go on this year, but the fourth of July celebration may look a little different than in past years.
The fireworks show will begin around 9 p.m. on Sunday, July 4 at Corporate Woods Founders’ Park, 9711 W. 109th Street.
In past years, the City has hosted entertainment and food trucks for the evening leading up to the fireworks show.
This year, due to the coronavirus pandemic, there will be no entertainment or food or drink sales.
Visitors can enter Corporate Woods Founders’ Park at any time on the holiday. Indian Creek Parkway, between building 40 and the grassy lawn of the park will close around 7 p.m. for the event.
Social distancing between groups of attendees is recommended.
Visitors can park in the open parking lots behind building 40 or in any open Corporate Woods parking lot.
Guests are encouraged to bring water and may bring snacks or food. Coolers are allowed, but alcohol is not allowed in City parks.
Guests may bring picnic blankets and chairs, but pop-up tents are prohibited.
The rain date for the fireworks show is Monday, July 5.
