Mayor Skoog to give first-ever State of the City

Mayor Curt Skoog will present the State of the City address on April 12, 2022 at Johnson County Community College.

The theme of the speech, Skoog’s first as mayor of Overland Park, is “Foundations to Future.”

He will share remarks about foundational actions that have made Overland Park a great place, and recent efforts to help residents enjoy their community and local employers retain talent and grow their businesses.

Skoog will also host a discussion with community leaders about the direction of the city’s future as Overland Park prepares for a major update to its Comprehensive Plan.

“This speech is an opportunity to check in with your community and learn more about what’s going on,” said Mayor Skoog. “But more importantly, I hope residents, business owners and others will be inspired to engage when we start the Comprehensive Plan update. This will be a blueprint for the City’s future, and I hope everyone will be a part of the process.”

The speech will begin at 4 p.m. on April 12 inside Yardley Hall in the Midwest Trust Center at Johnson County Community College, 12345 College Blvd.

The Overland Park Chamber of Commerce hosts the Mayor’s State of the City, which will be followed this year by a reception in the Midwest Trust Center.

Guests can register on the Chamber’s website.
