Mayor joins Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative

Overland Park Mayor Curt Skoog joins the seventh class of the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative. This yearlong program provides select mayors and senior city leaders with professional development, continued education and management training.

With a foundation in strategic leadership, the program provides mayors with the resources, support and expertise to grow as leaders and implement innovative strategies to solve the biggest problems their cities face. Over the course of a year, Mayor Skoog will participate in a combination of classroom, virtual and field-based learning opportunities surrounding these key areas.

“I am honored to be selected as one of the forty mayors from across the globe to identify initiatives that will move Overland Park forward,” shared Skoog. “Led by professors from the Harvard Business School and Harvard Kennedy School of Government, this program will provide Overland Park leadership with access to world class assistance in implementing programs that will innovate and improve our community.”

To kick off the program, Mayor Skoog joined participating mayors from nine countries and six continents as well as Harvard faculty and renowned management leaders in New York City for a four-day immersive classroom experience.

Members of the City’s executive staff will also participate in sessions of the program.

Established by Bloomberg Philanthropies, Harvard Kennedy School, and Harvard Business School as a first-of-its-kind program to help close the gap in executive development for the public sector, the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative equips mayors and senior city leaders with the tools and expertise to strengthen their cities and communities.

There are no fees or tuition for participation in the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative.  All costs are paid by the program. All airfare, hotel, meals, and ground transportation is fully covered.
