The wait is almost over! Get ready to make a splash this summer as outdoor pools prepare to open May 26, marking the official start of summer aquatic adventures in Overland Park.
Outdoor Pools
The City operates four outdoor pools:
- Stonegate Pool, 9701 Antioch
- Tomahawk Ridge Aquatic Center, 11950 Lowell
- Young’s Pool, 8421 W. 77th St.
- Bluejacket Pool, 10101 Bond
The outdoor pools welcome swimmers daily from noon to 7 p.m. Whether it’s a leisurely afternoon swim, a competitive race with friends, or simply soaking up the sun on a lounge chair, there are summer fun opportunities for everyone.
Adaptive Splash
People with disabilities and their families can enjoy City pools before they are open to the public during Adaptive Splash (formerly known as Saturday Swim) on select summer Saturdays at Tomahawk Ridge Aquatic Center.
Lifeguards are on duty and staff will be in the water to assist with swimmers’ needs and to provide support.
Admission to Adaptive Splash at Tomahawk Ridge Aquatic Center is $8. One caretaker is admitted with each swimmer, free of charge.
Memberships + Passes
Memberships provide access to all outdoor city pools while they are open for the season and may be purchased in person at the City’s community centers.
Daily passes are also available for purchase at the entrance to each pool for $8.
Splash Pads
For our younger aquatics lovers who like to make a splash in shallow waters, the City also operates splash pads at three parks:
- Thompson Park, 8045 Santa Fe Dr.
- Roe Park, 10400 Roe
- Sapling Grove Park, 8210 Grant
Splash pads are free to use and are open May 1-Sept. 30 from 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
End of Season
Bluejacket, Stonegate and Young’s Pool close for the season on Aug. 6, 2024.
Beginning Aug. 7, Tomahawk Ridge Aquatic Center will operate Monday-Friday from 4-7 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday from 12-7 p.m.
Tomahawk Ridge Aquatic Center closes for the season on September 2, 2024.
Indoor Aquatics
While outdoor pools provide seasonal excitement, aquatic fun doesn’t end when summer fades. The indoor pool at Matt Ross Community Center remains open year-round, ensuring residents can enjoy swimming and water-based activities regardless of the weather.
Please note the indoor pools at Matt Ross Community Center will close for essential tile repair and annual maintenance July 17-August 6. MRCC members may use their memberships at the outdoor pools during that time.
