Rid your home of unwanted and unusable electronics at the City’s Electronics Recycling and Shredding Event this weekend.
Join us Saturday, October 21, at Shawnee Mission West High School, 8800 W. 85th St., between 9 a.m. and noon.
Recycle items not collected by routine curbside recycling that may otherwise end up in a landfill.
The following items will be accepted for free:
- Computer towers
- Printers
- Keyboards
- Laptops
- Hard drives
- Speakers
- Cell phones
- Pagers
- Radios/scanners
- VCRs and DVD players
- Fax machines
- Answering machines
- Non-PCB ballasts
- Stereos
- Power tools
The following items will be accepted for a fee:
- TVs – $40 each to recycle
- Computer monitors – $25 each
Documents will also be accepted for shredding ($5 suggested donation per box).
Recycling fees may be paid with cash or credit card.

- Smoke detectors
- Tapes
- Light bulbs/tubes
- CDs
- DVDs
- PCB ballasts
- Software
- Toner cartridges
- Thermometers
- Hazardous materials
- Large and small appliances
