Whether it’s purchasing fresh produce from the Farmers’ Market or spending an afternoon with Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead’s baby goats, Overland Park has something for everyone.
This year’s National Parks and Recreation Month theme, “Where Community Grows”, offers the perfect opportunity to appreciate and celebrate the City’s many Parks and Recreation amenities that allow us to come together as families, neighbors and a community.
Pack a picnic and visit one of the City’s more than 80 parks and open spaces. Challenge your family and friends to a game of tennis, pickleball, volleyball or basketball, or find the perfect fishing spot at one of the City’s six lakes. Amenities vary at each park. Find your favorite activity here.
For even more adventure, explore one of the City’s trails. The Indian Creek and Tomahawk Creek trails provide miles of open space, connecting the City’s parks, neighborhoods, schools and recreation facilities.
Make a splash in one (or all) of Overland Park’s outdoor pools:
- Bluejacket Pool, 10101 Bond St.
- Stonegate Pool, 9701 Antioch Rd.
- Tomahawk Ridge Aquatic Center, 11950 Lowell Ave.
- Young’s Pool, 8421 W. 77th St.
Pools are open daily from 12-7 p.m.
Go for an indoor swim at Matt Ross Community Center. The leisure pool is designed for people of all ages and features a water slide, lazy river and water toys.
Head to Tomahawk Ridge Community Center to take in the work of local artists. Art at the Center is free and open seven days a week during community center hours.
