Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be a police officer?
The Overland Park Police Department’s Community Police Academy offers residents an opportunity to learn about the fundamentals of police work, fostering stronger relationships between the community and the police department.
This nine-week-long program is designed to provide in-depth knowledge and hands-on experiences in various aspects of policing.
The 2024 Community Police Academy will kick off on September 21 at the Sanders Justice Center, located at 12400 Foster. Classes will be held every Saturday through November 16, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Participants will delve into a variety of topics, including:
- Department operations
- Criminal investigations
- Crime scene investigations
- Communications
- Tactical operations and more!
Participation in the Community Police Academy is free. Our officers and personnel teaching in the academy provide their services and expertise as part of the program.
Enrollment will remain open until the program reaches capacity.
