69Express: 167th Street at U.S. 69 to close for 180 days beginning April 6

Beginning April 6, 167th Street at U.S. 69 will fully close to traffic between Antioch Road and Metcalf Avenue for 180 days to allow for the reconstruction of the 167th Street interchange as part of the 69Express project. During the closure, U.S. 69 over 167th Street will be reduced to one lane in both directions.

The 167th Street interchange will be rebuilt with new south-facing ramps, providing access to and from both directions of U.S. 69. Additionally, 167th Street will be expanded to four lanes, and roundabouts will be installed at the intersections of 167th Street and the U.S. 69 ramps.

Detours will be marked. All ramps and lanes are scheduled to reopen by early October.

The Kansas Department of Transportation’s project will build a new express toll lane in each direction adjacent to the existing general-purpose lanes to increase safety and improve congestion in the area.
