Beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 12, both directions of 135th Street at U.S. 69 will close for the installation of a new box culvert for drainage as part of the 69 Express project. The eastbound 135th Street to northbound U.S. 69 loop ramp will also be fully closed. All other ramps will remain open for right-turn-only movements.
Detours will be marked. All lanes are scheduled to reopen by Monday, July 15 at 6 a.m.
The Kansas Department of Transportation’s project will build a new express toll lane in each direction adjacent to the existing general-purpose lanes to increase safety and improve congestion in the area. The express lanes will open to traffic by the end of 2025. Additional work is also taking place at U.S. 69 and the 167th Street interchange as part of the project.
