Streetlight Repairs

The city owns and maintains more than 18,000 street lights.

They are designed and installed to provide a safe level of of illumination on our roadways.

Crews regularly check street lights at night for outages on thoroughfares. We rely on residents to report outages in residential areas.

Report an Outage

Submit requests for street light repairs or bulb replacement using the city’s online customer service tool, OPCares.

Request a new streetlight by contacting Public Works, 913-895-6040.

All requests will be studied by staff to determine whether a light is warranted according to city policy.
