Drew Mitrisin was elected to the City Council in November 2023. He is a father, AmeriCorps national service alum and an infrastructure policy professional.
Mitrisin represents Ward 2, which includes the Oak Park Mall, the Johnson County Central Resource Library, several of our city’s great parks, the Johnson County Museum, and a vibrant stretch of the Metcalf Corridor among other landmarks and thriving neighborhoods.
Mitrisin has lived in the Nall Hills neighborhood of Overland Park since 2019. He and his wife, Angie, a teacher at Apache Elementary School in the Shawnee Mission School District, are parents to their young daughter, Reese.
Mitrisin is a senior transportation policy consultant at Burns & McDonnell, focused on supporting municipal and public sector clients on delivering critical transportation and water infrastructure projects. He is an ENV SP-certified sustainable infrastructure professional with experience delivering multimodal transportation projects, green stormwater infrastructure projects, and grant funding for clean energy projects.
Prior to starting his public policy career, Mitrisin completed a year of national service through AmeriCorps with City Year during the 2014-2015 school year, where he served in a 4th grade math classroom in an economically disadvantaged community in Southeast Washington, DC.
Mitrisin received his Master of Arts in public management from Johns Hopkins University and his Bachelor of Arts in political science from William Jewell College.
