Together with the Mayor, City Council members make up Overland Park’s Governing Body.
City Council members serve on committees to review business that comes before the city. Meetings are open to the public.
The City Council is made up of 12 Overland Park residents. Council members are elected from each of the city’s six wards and serve staggered, four-year terms.
The City Council has four standing committees that consider items from the four divisions of city business.
The Committee of the Whole, of which all City Council members are a part, meets to consider major issues as-needed.
