The holiday shopping season is in full swing. Follow these tips from the Overland Park Police Department to safeguard your holiday giving:
- Install a doorbell video camera to deter thieves. Security cameras reduce the likelihood that a thief will stop on your porch. If they do, the video evidence can help investigators track down the thieves.
- Ship packages to your office or a local store if you won’t be home to accept the delivery.
- Track your packages and ask a neighbor to pick them up off your porch if you can’t get home to bring them inside.

Writing down a description of what you saw, including clothing, the make, model and color of any vehicles involved, and the direction of travel can help detectives track down package thieves.
