Get ready to kick off the holiday season from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15 at the Mayor’s Holiday Festival at Thompson Park, a free community event packed with festive fun, music and cheer!
The holiday magic begins with live music by Twice on Sunday filling the air and local food trucks serving up delicious treats. Family fun is at the heart of this festival, with a train ride, a hay ride, pony rides, a balloon artist and photo booth to create lasting memories. A Maker’s Market will be open from 5-8 p.m. on Overland Park Drive, offering a chance to shop for unique holiday gifts and treats.
Don’t forget your camera! The festival is packed with tree-mendous photo opportunities with some of your favorite holiday characters, including Santa Claus, the Grinch and even a few Disney Princesses who join in the holiday cheer. A Taylor Swift impersonator will also make a special appearance for those in their Swiftmas era. These festive figures will pose for photos and chat with guests, creating unforgettable holiday memories for your family and friends.
Join us at the Thompson Park stage at 5:45 p.m. for a meaningful moment as we celebrate generous contributions from businesses and community members to the Metropolitan Organization Countering Sexual Assault, an organization dedicated to preventing sexual assault and supporting survivors. Stick around to watch Overland Park Mayor Curt Skoog flip the switch in a magical tree-lighting ceremony at 6 p.m.
The Mayor’s Holiday Festival is the perfect way to embrace the season and get in the holiday spirit with friends, family and neighbors. Find more information about this special event on the Downtown Overland Park website, downtownop.org.
