Overland Park to take feedback on neighborhood funding

The City of Overland Park would like your feedback on how it plans to allocate approximately $700,000 in federal funding.

Overland Park expects to receive about $700,000 in funding from the Department of Housing and Urban Development. The City will use the funding to meet the needs of low- and moderate-income residents.

CDBG funding can support initiatives that enhance the quality of life in neighborhoods. This includes projects such as infrastructure improvements, housing rehabilitation and supporting community organizations that provide much-needed community services.

In previous years, the City has used HUD funding for childcare assistance for residents, home repair programs, street and sidewalk improvements in high-need areas and more.

Projects included in this CDBG plan must meet HUD’s criteria for funding.

Weigh in

The City of Overland Park wants the community’s feedback on best allocating this funding.

The Community Development Block Grant Advisory Committee will hold a hearing at its meeting on Thursday, Oct. 24 at 6 p.m. at the Myron E. Scafe Building, 8500 Antioch Road in Overland Park.

To share your thoughts, attend the meeting and speak at the hearing.

After City staff receives feedback from the committee on the draft plan, the Overland Park City Council will also hold a hearing on the plan at its meeting on Monday, January 6, 2025.
