Star Spangled Spectacular set to light up the sky July 4

Get ready for a blast this Independence Day at the Overland Park Star Spangled Spectacular in Corporate Woods Founders’ Park on July 4! 

Come hungry! Food trucks open at 5 p.m. Whether you’re in the mood for savory snacks or sweet treats, there will be something for everyone.

The festivities kick off with an exciting lineup of live music featuring these talented performers:

  • 5 p.m. – Green Shoebox Band
  • 6 p.m. – Howard Mahan
  • 7 p.m. – The Champagne Band
  • 8:15 p.m. – Justus West

Prepare to be dazzled as fireworks light up the night, beginning at 10:05 p.m.

Make the fireworks experience even more special by tuning in to 95.7 KCMO, Kansas City’s Talk. The station is the official radio partner for the Overland Park Star Spangled Spectacular and will broadcast the soundtrack for the fireworks show. 

Visitors can enter Corporate Woods Founders’ Park at any time on Independence Day. Admission is free, and parking is available in any open Corporate Woods parking lot. Bring blankets, chairs, food, water and coolers, but please leave alcohol and pop-up tents at home. Dogs are allowed but must remain on a leash at all times.

Weather Updates

If the City must cancel due to inclement weather, the fireworks show will be rescheduled for July 5 at 10 p.m. Please check the Star Spangled Spectacular page on July 4 for weather-related changes or cancellations.

Fireworks illegal in Overland Park

It is illegal to purchase, possess, or discharge any fireworks in Overland Park.

The following types of fireworks are prohibited:

  • Sparklers
  • Firecrackers
  • Torpedoes
  • Skyrockets
  • Roman candles

This is not an exhaustive list. Any device that produces a visible or audible effect through combustion or detonation is not allowed in Overland Park.

City ordinance does not prohibit the use of snappers, snakes, toy pistols, or canes with caps.

Any person who violates the ordinance is subject to a fine of up to $500.
