City of Overland Park staff are proud to share that the City has won three awards for excellence in government finance.
The Government Finance Officers Association recognizes excellence in public finance.
This month, the City’s Finance Department learned it received the organization’s certificate for excellence in financial reporting.
The achievement recognizes the staff’s work to produce the 2022 Annual Comprehensive Financial Report, which defines the City’s accounting system and budgetary controls, and audits spending.
“The Annual Comprehensive Financial Report is our way of showing Overland Park’s high level of fiscal management,” said Director of Finance and Budget Gena McDonald. “We work diligently to ensure we are responsible stewards of every tax dollar the community trusts to the City and this award represents our dedication to that mission.”
The City also recently received GFOA’s award for outstanding achievement in popular annual financial reporting and previously received the distinguished budget presentation awards program.
The third award rounds out a “triple crown” of reporting awards for public financial management, demonstrating the City’s further commitment to government accountability.
