It may be winter, but the City of Overland Park is gearing up for a splashing summer ahead!
While most of us dream of warmer weather, the City is actively seeking enthusiastic individuals to join its lifeguard team.
No prior lifeguarding experience? No problem! The City provides training for all hired lifeguards.
OP lifeguards enjoy competitive pay, starting at $15.25 per hour. This is a great opportunity for teens and college students looking to make extra money over summer break. Lifeguards also have the chance to gain valuable experience in a fun and rewarding environment.
Candidates must be at least 15 years old by May 1. There is no Overland Park residency requirement to apply.
The first training session for 2024 guards will be next weekend, Feb. 10 and 11.

2024 outdoor pool plans
Parks and Recreation Department officials have been working to recruit and retain lifeguards throughout the winter.
The City has more than 300 lifeguard positions during the summer and is working to fill each of those.
We expect to be able to open all four outdoor pools, including Stonegate Pool, Tomahawk Ridge Aquatic Center, Young’s Pool and Bluejacket Pool if all positions are filled.
The outdoor pool season begins Sunday, May 26.
