Fingerprinting
The Overland Park Police Department provides fingerprinting services for Overland Park residents and for massage therapy licenses for businesses in Overland Park. Appointments are required. Walk-ins are not accepted.
Fingerprints are taken digitally (LiveScan) and printed on police-provided FD-258 fingerprint cards. The Police Department does not send completed fingerprint cards electronically.
There is a $15 fee for the first card. Each additional card is $5. This fee is included in the cost of a massage therapist license. Payments must be made in person at the time of your appointment.
Eligibility
Fingerprinting is offered to Overland Park residents with proof of residency, and anyone applying for a city license that requires fingerprinting:
- Background for employment (residency required)
- Massage therapy licensing (residency not required)
- City employee or contractor (residency not required)
Fingerprinting is not available for green card or citizenship applications. Please contact the Immigration Office for assistance. Please contact the Sheriff’s Office for fingerprinting services for concealed carry.

Fingerprinting services are available from 9 a.m.-11 a.m., Tuesday-Thursday at the Sanders Justice Center, 12400 Foster.

Payments must be made in person at the time of your appointment. Prepayment is not accepted to allow for rescheduling or cancellations.
Accepted payment methods include cash, card, check, Apple/mobile pay and money order.
What to Bring to Your Appointment
Please bring a photo ID that shows your Overland Park address. If your ID does not list an Overland Park address, you’ll need to provide a piece of mail with your name and an Overland Park address, such as a utility bill or lease agreement.
Bring any paperwork provided by the organization requesting your fingerprints, including instructions for the fingerprint technician or background check waivers.
If you are being fingerprinted for a massage therapy license, you must bring your completed application, signed by your establishment manager. Incomplete applications will result in appointment cancellation.
