Crews have been plowing throughout the day and will remain on duty through the evening.
All thoroughfares have been plowed and treated, and these streets are cleared of snow. We continue to plow and treat residential streets and expect that will continue into tomorrow morning.
Overland Park maintains more than 2,200 lane miles of City streets. It typically takes the City’s snow team 24-48 hours after the snow stops falling to clear all City streets fully.

Court dockets scheduled for today are postponed. You may still visit the Municipal Court in-person or utilize online options for other court services.

Crews began plowing shortly after midnight when the snow began to accumulate.
At this time, snow crews have plowed most major streets in the City, including thoroughfares and collector streets. We continue to plow major streets and are working on residential neighborhood streets as well.
The day shift will return this morning to take over for night shift drivers, who arrived at 10 p.m. yesterday.
The snow is expected to continue falling through the early afternoon in Overland Park. Crews will continue to plow and treat as needed throughout the day until all streets are clear.
January 8:
City of Overland Park snow crews are gearing up for the first major snow of the season.
Overland Park is expecting at least three inches of snow and high winds over the next 24 hours. Road temperatures are currently above freezing but will drop below freezing tonight.
City’s plan
Snow teams will report to work starting at noon today. They will spread salt on all City streets throughout the afternoon and early evening.
As snow begins to accumulate, drivers will begin plowing all City streets.
A second shift of snow crews will report to work at 10 p.m. to continue treating and/or plowing throughout the night.
How to help snow crews
Overland Park has more than 2,000 lanes miles of streets to treat and plow, along with 2,000 cul-de-sacs.
Drivers can assist snow crews by:
- Moving any cars that are parked on the steet on to driveways or parking lots, allowing snow plows to safely navigate streets.
- Staying home if you can.
- If you must go out, plan ahead and leave plenty of space for snow trucks. Please stay back at least 100 feet from any snow crews.
