Overland Park snow crews prepare for anything Mother Nature sends us each winter. After spending weeks throughout October and November preparing for winter events, Overland Park crews responded to the season’s first snowfall on Nov. 25 and 26.
Nearly 60 staff members reported to treat and clear City roads. Crews spread 400 pounds of salt per lane mile, totaling more than 600 tons of salt spread across the city.
Overland Park saw snow accumulations ranging from 1.8 to 2.2 inches. Although this may seem low, it already marks the second-highest snow accumulation for the month of November in the last ten years.
With more than 2,000 lane miles of streets and bridges to maintain, including more than 2,000 cul-de-sacs and 59 bridge decks, our snow plow drivers directly impact the lives of OP residents. Thank you, drivers, for working hard to keep City roads clear and safe.
