Applications open for 2023 Stormwater Cost Share Program

Did you know the City of Overland Park will split the cost of some of your landscaping projects?

The City will reimburse Overland Park residents for up to 50 percent of the total cost of eligible stormwater treatment projects as part of the Stormwater Cost Share Program. Applications are now open at opkansas.org.

The Stormwater Cost Share Program encourages residents and business owners to incorporate stormwater management strategies on their properties through reimbursement for rain barrels, rain gardens, native pollinator gardens, native trees and more. These strategies help improve water quality by removing pollutants, reducing erosion and absorbing excess water. If it’s not controlled, stormwater runoff can affect water quality, picking up excess nutrients and pollutants as it runs off into local streams.

The Stormwater Cost Share program started in 2011 to help improve water quality in Overland Park. The City receives funds from the Johnson County Stormwater Management Program to offer this program to residents. Funding is available to applicants on a first come, first served basis and is subject to the approval of the Public Works Department.
