Fireworks Rain Show – July 5

Due to flooding in Indian Creek, extremely muddy conditions in the park and the threat of more weather in the forecast, the Overland Park Star Spangled Spectacular scheduled for Thursday, July 4, was canceled.

Stay up to date with 69 Express construction

The U.S. 69 Corridor Modernization and Expansion Project, or 69 Express, is underway between 103rd Street and 151st street.

The Kansas Department of Transportation’s project will build a new express toll lane in each direction adjacent to the existing general-purpose lanes to increase safety and improve congestion in the area. The express lanes will open to traffic by the end of 2025. Additional work is also taking place at U.S. 69 and the 167th Street interchange as part of the project.

Lane closures, shoulder work and detours are expected throughout construction of the express toll lanes and will impact traffic on City streets. When feasible, some construction will be completed overnight to reduce the overall impact on traffic. Find construction updates and closure information at 69express.org.
