Lost and Found Pets

When a dog is running loose, animal control officers pick it up and impound it at Great Plains SPCA in Merriam.

You can reclaim an impounded pet at Great Plains SPCA’s lost pet center between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. daily.

If you found a pet or your pet is missing and not at Great Plains SPCA, contact animal control.

Fees

Citation Fees

Overland Park animal control officers issue citations for animals found running loose. These include

• Failure to confine, $104.50 for a first offense
• Failure to license a pet, $75.50 for a first offense
• Failure to provide proof of current rabies vaccination, court appearance

Great Plains SPCA

There is a $100 intake and administrative fee for each animal impounded at Great Plains SPCA. Great Plains SPCA also charges a $25 boarding fee is for each day the pet is at the facility, including the day your pet was brought to the facility.
