Memorial services to affect traffic

Tuesday and Wednesday, memorial services for Officer Mike Mosher will affect traffic near College and Metcalf.

Tuesday during Officer Mosher’s drive-thru visitation at the Overland Park Convention Center from 4-6 p.m. During Tuesday’s visitation, 110th Street will be closed between Woodson and Lamar (north of the Overland Park Convention Center) to allow for visitation traffic. 

Those who plan to attend the visitation will be routed east on 110th Street through the convention center parking lot and under the north canopy of the convention center to pay their respects from their vehicles.

Wednesday morning at approximately 8 a.m., Metcalf will be closed between 110th and 115th and College will be closed between Nall and Marty for Officer Mosher’s funeral services. This closure will last into the afternoon.

In order to allow for social distancing, the physical space of the funeral service is open only to family, friends and members of the Overland Park Police Department. Those who would like to view Officer Mosher’s service inside the Overland Park Convention Center may watch live coverage on local media outlets, including 41 Action News, FOX 4 KC, KCTV5 News, KMBC 9 News, and the Kansas City Star website and social media channels.

Following the funeral service, a procession will travel west on College and south on Metcalf to Johnson County Memorial Gardens, where Officer Mosher will be laid to rest. The procession will include bagpipes and drums, a riderless horse, color guards, a horse-drawn caisson, and more. You are welcome to gather along College or Metcalf to view the procession, while practicing distancing measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

There will be a graveside ceremony at Johnson County Memorial Gardens which you can also watch via local media coverage.
