In response to the rapidly-changing coronavirus situation and in an effort to ensure the safety and health of our community, the City of Overland Park will take the following steps Monday evening:
Tonight’s Finance, Administration and Economic Development Committee, Committee of the Whole and City Council meetings will occur as scheduled.
The public seating area chairs in the Council Chamber and the City Conference Room to allow for more social distancing of attendees to the public meetings. We encourage the public to watch the meeting via the City’s livestream capability.
Wednesday’s Finance, Administration and Economic Development Committee will also occur as scheduled.
At the City Council meeting, staff will bring a non-agenda item forward to allow the City Council to legally conduct remote participation in meetings in the future.
Mayor Gerlach will announce that all other City Council activities following Wednesday’s Finance, Administration and Economic Development Committee meeting will be canceled through Friday, April 3. This includes:
- Joint meeting of the City Council and Planning Commission on March 23
- Public Works Committee meeting on March 25
- Community Development Committee meeting on April 1
City staff will recommend that the public hearings for the 2021-2025 Capital Improvements Program and the Community Development Block Grant be continued until Monday, April 6. We encourage the public to provide written comments to the City Council and city staff as appropriate.
If the Johnson County government and health officials initiate further restrictions to public gatherings, Overland Park will then address the opening of the Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead on April 1, and Overland Park Farmers’ Market on April 11, as well as other scheduled City sponsored events.
