The Traffic Volume Map is under construction. For current traffic counts in Overland Park, contact Bruce Wacker at [email protected].
The Traffic volume map shows traffic volumes for certain intersections or segments of roadways in Overland Park.
The data is updated as soon as it is processed from the City’s traffic counters. You can see the average daily traffic volume on each approach of the intersection as well as the total daily entering traffic volume in the intersection.
Purple icons indicate where traffic counters accrue data.
To collect the data, city staff places a black, rubber hose-like tube across a selected street. When a vehicle drives over the tube, it is counted, and the information is recorded in a small box at the side of the road. These readings typically are taken over a three-day period during the middle of the week and averaged into a single average daily traffic volume count.
The following maps indicate the results of traffic volume studies done during the years listed on each map.
