The 10-mile Overland Park portion of Indian Creek Trail starts at Foxhill South Park and follows Indian Creek south and west to Forest Creek Park.
A connecting link continues south along Quivira Road toward the Tomahawk Creek Trail, which runs south and west toward 143rd Street and ultimately into Olathe.
The trail is paved, approximately 10 feet wide, with mile markers every half-mile.
Overall it is level and flat, with elevation gains or hills for short sections in some places.
The trail is for non-motorized bicycles. Leashed dogs are welcome on the trail.
The trail is wheelchair-accessible.
Parking is available at several parks on or connected to the trail. All trailhead parks have accessible parking with trail access.
The Indian Creek Bike/Hike Trail provides a connection to historical aspects of Overland Park prior to and following the arrival of pioneers in the area.
Signs along the trail show archival photographs, maps and other images that tell the history of Overland Park.
The panels feature well-researched original historical narratives about the names of the various streets that cross or intersect with the trail, as well as other points of interest.
Some parts of the trail also have national historical designations.
