Traffic management is the number one concern of residents based on citywide surveys.
As part of the city's response, we have created a page that lets you view static images and streaming video from up to 65 traffic cameras to determine your best route when traveling
in Overland Park.
The static images are updated every minute.
To view traffic cameras on the highways, please visit Kansas City Scout, maintained by the Missouri and Kansas transporation departments.
Closed Circuit TV Monitoring Cameras
The city currently uses 65 CCTV cameras at signalized intersections to ensure that traffic is flowing properly. These cameras are commonly used in major metropolitan areas for traffic management.
Engineers use the cameras to adjust and maximize traffic flow based on various obstacles, such as a stalled vehicle, an accident or road construction.
As additional cameras are installed, they will be available for viewing.
Video Detection Cameras
The city also uses video detection cameras at more than 100 intersections.
Traffic engineers can use these cameras to monitor traffic or a particular approach of an intersection; they cannot be moved remotely like the CCTV cameras.
No images are kept from these cameras.
