Firefighting Saturday is back!
This popular all-skills course will be hosted by the Overland Park Fire Department and the Kansas Fire & Rescue Training Institute from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008.
This training opportunity at the Overland Park Fire Training Center, 12401 Hemlock, is designed for small to medium-sized fire departments to gain useful knowledge and benefit from these activities.
Agenda
8 to 9 a.m.: Registration/Check-in
9 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Planned events
- SCBA maze in the tower as well as the Kansas Fire & Rescue Training Institute SCBA trailer;
- Live-fire evolutions in a three-story drill tower with fire simulators as well as the Kansas Fire & Rescue Training Institute burn trailer;
- Vent-enter-search drills;
- Ventilation practices;
- Aerial ladder climb;
- Propane car and truck fires; and
- Use of the OPFD Command Training Center that also includes an illustrated lecture on “The First Five Minutes of Command Decisions.”
Registration and Fees
Training is $50 per participant and includes lunch. There is free parking at the Fire Training Center.

Cancellation Policy
A $30 fee will be charged for returned checks. KU Continuing Education, which oversees the Kansas Fire & Rescue Training Institute, reserves the right to cancel the course and return all fees in the event of insufficient registration, instructor illness or national emergency. The liability of the University of Kansas is limited to the registration fee. University of Kansas will not be responsible for any losses incurred by registrants, including but not limited to airline cancellation charges or hotel deposits.
Please Note: Participants are required to have full NFPA-compliant protective firefighting equipment, including SCBA. Please make sure you mark your equipment. Air refill will be available at the Training Center. Air cylinders not in current hydrostatic date will not be refilled
