Being green
It may have taken a devastating tornado, but the effort to go green in Greensburg, Kan., is spreading.
At 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20, BNIM Architects will present “Sustainable Communities: Creating Vitality in the 21st Century City” in the Council Chamber of City Hall, 8500 Santa Fe Drive.
It is part of a joint Planning Commission and City Council public meeting.
Officials will talk about policy decisions and community education to foster a sustainable economy, restore and respect natural systems, protect cultural history and ensure social equality. Company officials will talk about their experience in creating Greenburg’s Sustainable Comprehensive Plan as well as efforts taken in the Kansas City metro area.
The event is free and open to the public.
