Jim has served the Overland Park Police Department for 39 years in multiple functions, including patrol, personnel, crime prevention and academy instruction. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and the National Crime Prevention Institute at the University of Louisville (Kentucky).
A member of the National Information Officers Association and the Kansas Public Information Officers Association, Jim earned a bachelor's degree in sociology from St. Benedict's College in 1969 and has completed post graduate studies at Wichita State University.
He spent 24 years as an adjunct professor at Johnson County Community College where he taught several criminal justice courses.
