Jim handles all media inquiries and requests for information regarding the Police Department.
Jim has served the Overland Park Police Department for 40 years in multiple functions, including patrol, personnel, crime prevention and academy instruction. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and the National Crime Prevention Institute at the University of Louisville (Kentucky).
A member of the National Information Officers Association and the Kansas Public Information Officers Association, Jim earned a bachelor's degree in sociology from St. Benedict's College in 1969 and earned master's degree credits through Wichita State University and the University of Virginia.
He spent 24 years as an adjunct professor at Johnson County Community College where he taught several criminal justice courses.
