Councilmember Terry Goodman - Ward 4
After seven years as a member of the Planning Commission, Terry Goodman was elected to the City Council in April 2001 and again in April 2005. He was elected Council President in April 2006.
During his tenure on the Planning Commission, Goodman served as Chairman (1998-99), and as a member of the Site Plan Review Committee, Master Plan Committee, Ordinance Review Committee, Residential Streets Committee, Blue Valley Urban Fringe Study Committee, and the Infill and Redevelopment Guidelines Committee.
A graduate of the University of Missouri-Kansas City with a degree in Secondary Education (history and political science), Goodman and his wife, Frances, have been Overland Park residents for more than 35 years. Terry and Frances have two adult daughters.
Councilmember Goodman served eight years on the Johnson County Library Board of Directors; he was chairman three times. He is a past member of the Board of Directors for the Mid-America Regional Council where he served on the Budget and Personnel Committee.
Terry is a current member of the Board of Directors for the Volunteer Center of Johnson County. He also is the current President of the Overland Park Development Corporation, and a past member of the Public Safety Committee.
Councilmember Goodman is an active member of the Overland Park Rotary Club having served this group as President from 2003-04. He also is a member of the Board of Directors for the Overland Park Rotary Club Foundation. Councilmember Goodman has been recognized by the Overland Park
Rotary Club with two Paul Harris Fellowships as well as the club's 2008 Distinguished Service Award.
